Terms of use
Article 1 (Purpose)
These terms set the conditions and procedures for using the KTimeCapsule K's Promise service (https://time-capsule-mocha-five.vercel.app, the "Service") provided by KTimeCapsule (the "Company"), and the rights and duties of the Company and the user.
Article 2 (Definitions)
1. A "promise" is a message the user writes and seals, which opens at the set open time.
2. A "block capsule" is a product that keeps contents locked on the user's device, together with a blockchain proof.
3. An "open link" is an address issued after sealing that opens the promise once the open time has passed.
Article 3 (Posting and changes)
1. The Company posts these terms on the service screen.
2. The Company may change these terms within the law, and posts the change on the service screen from 7 days before it takes effect (30 days before, if the change is unfavorable to the user).
Article 4 (Use of the service)
1. The service is used without signing up. The Company does not verify identity, and the user is responsible for problems that come from that.
2. People under 14 may not use the service.
3. The service has four steps: write, seal, lock, and open.
4. For K's Promise and the block capsule, the open time is 10:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. Korea time on the open date.
Article 5 (Products and fees)
1. K's Promise: from the moment of sealing to the open time, A nearer promise is 12,900원 for 3 months or less, A kept promise is 19,900원 for more than 3 months and up to 6 months, and A longer-kept promise is 29,900원 for more than 6 months and up to 12 months. When there is more than one recipient, the per-person fee is multiplied by the number of people.
2. Block capsule: 99,000원. The open date is up to 3 years from the seal date.
3. Payment happens in the payment provider's window, and the Company does not store payment-method data such as a card number.
Article 6 (Withdrawal and refunds)
Withdrawal and refunds follow the service refund policy (/refund).
Article 7 (Encryption)
1. K's Promise: the message, name, email address, and mobile number are stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM (a random 96-bit initialization vector per record). The decryption key is kept in a server environment variable, separate from the database.
2. Block capsule: the message and attached files are locked on the user's device (the browser) with a time lock, and only the ciphertext is sent to the Company. The original is not sent to the Company server. The buyer can check the blockchain proof directly.
3. All communication is encrypted with HTTPS.
Article 8 (Who can read before opening)
1. K's Promise: a sealed promise cannot be read on the service screen by anyone, including the writer, before the open time. The Company holds the decryption key and can technically decrypt it, but does not decrypt or read it except when unavoidable, such as responding to a failure or meeting a legal duty.
2. Block capsule: the contents are locked on the applicant's device, and nobody, including the Company, can open them before the open time.
3. A promise together is delivered, at the applicant's choice, either already sealed or so that it can be read once and then sealed. After the seal, nobody can see it before the open time.
4. Anyone with the open link can read it after the open time, so the link should be kept safe.
Article 9 (Retention)
1. An unpaid draft: 24 hours after writing.
2. K's Promise: 90 days from the open time.
3. Block capsule: the contents and attached files are deleted when the retention period (up to 3 years) ends.
4. Payment records: 5 years under the e-commerce law (excluding the message, name, and email address, stored separately).
Article 10 (Destruction)
1. An automatic destruction job runs on the hour and deletes information whose retention period has passed. Only the run time and the count are recorded.
2. The user can destroy a promise immediately from "Cancel sending and request deletion" on the open-link screen. A block capsule is destroyed with its deletion link.
3. Copies left in the database provider's backup are deleted automatically when the backup retention period (at most 14 days) ends.
Article 11 (User duties)
The user must not write another person's personal data, illegal information, or contents that infringe someone else's rights, and must not enter a recipient's contact details without that person's consent.
Article 12 (Changes and interruption)
The Company may pause the service when unavoidable, such as maintenance, a failure, or a natural disaster. The open notice may then be late, and the Company sends it without delay once the cause is resolved.
Article 13 (Limits of liability)
The Company is not liable for damage that is not the Company's fault, such as careless handling of an open link, a wrong contact, or a natural disaster. The Company also cannot open a block capsule, so if the applicant loses the open link the Company cannot recover it.
Article 14 (Privacy)
Personal data is handled under the privacy policy (/privacy).
Article 15 (Disputes)
Disputes about these terms follow the law of the Republic of Korea, and the competent court follows the Civil Procedure Act.
Addendum
These terms apply from 21 October 2026.
